舞蹈表演开始时，一群穿着蕾丝般的凤梨纤维布的「higantes」（巨人）登场，带出了菲律宾人宽宏大量的精神，更突显了布料的特质，实在是适合不过。当观众从透明的布料窥探巨人的身驱，经重新编排的四对方阵舞成为了反思和提出问题的邀请。凤梨纤维布是由凤梨叶（特别是西班牙红凤梨）天然纤维编织而成的菲律宾布料。凤梨是菲律宾殖民历史的遗物，由欧洲殖民者带到菲律宾，现已成为当地主要出口的农产品。这种舒适而轻盈的布料在当地及国际均大受欢迎而且价格高昂，因为其生产过程繁复，更是一种传统编织和刺绣的手工艺。
