要理解傳統菲律賓人的心理，便需要認清「hiya」的重要性。這他加祿詞語的意思是「羞恥」。「hiya」是菲律賓人根深蒂固的價值觀，令他們不敢打破社會傳統規範或提出太多尖銳的問題。「walang hiya」（無恥）更加是讓人顏面無存的嚴厲譴責。但跟很多詆譭的說話一樣，拒絕被傳統束縛的菲律賓人開始接受「walang hiya」的稱呼。

The Society of We Are Canadians Too created Pancouver to foster greater appreciation for underrepresented artistic communities. A rising tide of understanding lifts all of us.
