Amanda Sum的《New Age Attitudes: Live in Concert》虽然包含歌曲和故事元素,但绝非音乐剧!

由约翰·蓝侬以至贾斯汀·比伯等作曲家都曾创作过关于道歉的作品,但温哥华唱作人Amanda Sum的作品却是独一无二。在她名为《New Age Attitudes》的首张专辑内,「Sorry」这首作品以简单的民谣吉他曲调为开首。这让Amanda动人的歌声得以充份发挥,唱出了对系统性歧视和流传已久的种族定型的控诉,当中更包含了强烈的个人观点。「Sorry」更可能令人将25岁的Amanda联想到琼尼·米切尔,因为两位作曲家都擅于创作关于情感和经历的动人歌词,以及旋律柔和的乐曲。

Yvonne Wallace作品《útszan》将探讨关怀和语言收复的喜悦

在Yvonne Wallace开始为《útszan》(改善)进行采排前一天,她与母亲一同回顾了台词的读音。这演出的部份对白是以ucwalmícwts(人民的语言)来编写。她透过Zoom视频会议向Pancouver表示:「当时我们正在练习「q’a7」这个字(食物)的发音。这是非常短促,并以声门来发音的词汇。我以为自己懂得如何把它读出来。」她的母亲是精通ucwalmícwts的语言教师,当时亦有协助Yvonne掌握正确的读音。然而,俩人突然之间傻笑起来。这对母女被她们母语其中一个词语的一个音节逗得咯咯地笑。
