有时候,成功可以源自简单的构思。温哥华居民Linda Poole因丈夫当时是加拿大驻海地大使的关系而曾经居住于太子港(Port-au-Prince),并从俩人的朋友 — 时任日本驻海地大使Hisanobu Hasama — 身上认识到日本的樱花祭。Linda接受Pancouver电话访问时忆述了当时的情况:「我从不知道有一个赞颂我最喜爱花卉的节日。于是我便告诉他,在回家后将举办相同的节庆。」
