十八世纪的爱丁堡，把医学教育从课堂搬到了病床边。荷兰莱顿大学的布尔哈夫先开了先例，爱丁堡把它制度化：系统化的解剖学教学、皇家医院的临床实习、学生跟着医师一间一间「走病房」。这套训练模式后来被多数医学院效仿，也随着大英帝国的宣教士们，扩散到世界各地。

From Scotland to Changhua: How British Presbyterian Church missionaries reshaped Taiwan’s healthcare system

Vancouver TAIWANfest’s Dialogue with Scotland includes an exhibition highlighting Presbyterian physicians who moved to west-central Taiwan.
