The world’s most famous Punjabi Sikh entertainer made history in Vancouver this weekend. It came on Saturday (April 28) when Diljit Dosanjh performed in front of a full house at BC Place in Vancouver.
This marked the first time that British Columbia’s largest venue had hosted a Punjabi-language concert.
Dosanjh, whose nickname is Bhindi, played to more than 50,000 fans. He thrilled them by performing several songs from his 2020 blockbuster album G.O.A.T., including the popular title track.
In addition to being a bestselling musical artist, Dosanjh has also enjoyed phenomenal success as a movie star. His newest film, Amar Singh Chamkila, is about a famous Punjabi singer who was assassinated with his wife and two band members in 1988. The crime remains unsolved.
Dosanjh’s other hit films include Jatt & Juliet 2, Punjab 1984, Sajjan Singh Rangroot, and Honsla Rakh, which was filmed in Surrey, B.C.
