If you weren’t able to make it out to Swangard Stadium on Saturday (June 22) for the second annual Pinoy Festival, you can still catch some of the highlights on YouTube. Today, Marilyn Orpano posted a 44-minute video, “Best of Pinoy Festival 2024 with Martin Nievera at Swangard Stadium in Burnaby, British Columbia”.
Nievera is a legendary crooner known in his home country as the Concert King of the Philippines. And he attracted a huge crowd of B.C. residents, as well as some from Alberta and the United States, who trace their roots back to the Asian nation.
Mabuhay House Society and the Pinoy Festival Alliance co-presented the festival to coincide with Filipino Heritage Month.

Another YouTuber, Bentours BC, also posted a video about the festival. Most of it is devoted to Nievera’s performance.
Yet another Nievera fan, Keiji Manilili, posted several videos. The one below includes the King’s cover version of the Harry Styles hit song “As It Was”.
Manoy Clark, on the other hand, decided to post video about the Pinoy Festival Parade through the stadium. It included more than 70 Filipino organizations whose roots extended from the island of Luzon to the Visayas and all the way south to Mindanao. The Philippines is an archipelago made up of 7,000 islands.
Premier participates in Sisiwat dance
Many politicians also attended, including Premier Daivd Eby. He participated in the Sisiwat dance and reiterated his support for a provincial Filipino Cultural Centre in Metro Vancouver.
“We work closely with Mabuhay House to reach out across the community to gather information and put together a new questionnaire on the government website so you can tell us what you want to see in a cultural centre,” Eby said in a news release. “We will keep working with Mabuhay House to ensure your voice is heard.”
