The beat of the nation will be heard across six time zones on Canada Day. And the flagship event for Canada Day Drumming in the Lower Mainland will be at 11:30 a.m. on July 1 at Lansdowne Centre (5300 No. 3 Road) in Richmond.
Those in attendance will witness a six-minute drumming celebration, which will be held simultaneously in more than 40 other Canadian communities. There will also be various multicultural performances, lion dances, and martial arts demonstrations at Lansdowne Centre, which is accessible via the Canada Line.
In addition, organizers plan to distribute more than 2,000 free rattle drums.
July 1 will mark the 10th anniversary of Canada Day Drumming. Former banker, entrepreneur, and investor Richard K. Wong founded and continues to chair the organization. He also chairs the Legacy 150 Celebrations Society.

“What began as a local community initiative has grown into a national celebration that brings Canadians together across cultures, generations, and communities,” Wong said in a news release. “Whether you’re drumming at a major festival, in a small-town gathering, or with family and friends, you’re part of something bigger than yourself. Canada Day Drumming reminds us that while our backgrounds may be different, we can still come together through a shared rhythm.”
In 2021, Canada Day Drumming became the Guinness World Records holder for the “Most People Performing a Drum Roll Online Simultaneously” with 581 drummers.
