省議員艾美寶在「反種族歧視醒覺週」首天呼籲卑詩省民以自己的方法對抗歧視

卑詩省反種族歧視項目議會秘書艾美寶在「反種族歧視醒覺週」首天發表以下聲明:

「2023年5月22日至26日的反種族歧視醒覺週』為卑詩省民提供機會,認識本省的多元文化和歷史,並反思如何在本週以至全年每一天對抗歧視、種族主義和仇恨。卑詩省容不下種族歧視。只要我們攜手維護平等,便可令到本省成為更理想和更有共融性的地方。」

「每個人可透過眾多途徑,了解並解決自己社區的種族主義和歧視問題。Resilience BC 反種族主義網絡 (Resilience BC Anti-racism Network) 為他們的社區提供教育機會、工具和資源。」

「我們在學校作出重要變動以對抗種族主義和歧視。今年初,我們推出了《 幼兒園至12年班反種族主義行動計劃》 (K-12 Anti-Racism Action Plan),給予家長、教師和學生工具和資源,在推動社區變革擔當更積極的角色。」

「政府亦將透過立法消除系統性歧視。2022年推出的《 反種族主義數據法》(Anti-Racism Data Act)讓政府得以收集以種族為基礎的數據,從而識別人們在使用政府計劃和服務時的差別和障礙。下一步,政府將根據這歷史性法案,在2024年推出更廣泛的反種族歧視法案,屆時政府將需要為處理種族主義和歧視議題負責。社會大眾將於今夏獲邀參與網上問卷調查,就新法案表達己見。」

「請以自己的方式對抗種族主義,並與我一同慶祝反種族歧視醒覺週』。不論是對你所屬機構具有歧視性的手法提出質疑,抑或於餐桌討論不同文化和觀點,我們可齊心令卑詩省變成更公平公正的地方。」
