Sher Vancouver邀請電影製作人向新設立的Sundar Festival提交作品

Sundar director Vinay Giridhar and manager Alex Sangha have seen their film, Emergence: Out of the Shadows , screened many times, including at the Vancouver International South Asian Film Festival.

一個南亞同性戀組織將會向電影製作人提供逾10,000元的現金獎。

註冊慈善團體Sher Vancouver計劃於2024年6月在素里的City Centre Library舉辦首屆Sundar Prize and Festival。該組織稱,這個獎項和節日「旨在表揚藉著有意義和富資訊性的故事,讓世界變得美好的動人電影」。「Sundar」一詞在梵文解作「美麗」。

雖然Sher Vancouver歡迎任何主題的作品,但也鼓勵電影製作人專注於特定議題,例如是人權、移民與難民、社會正義議題、原住民LGBTQ_+社區、有色人種、邊緣化群體、環境與氣候變化,以及教育。

獲評審團選為最佳劇情片的作品將會獲得5,000元獎金,而最佳紀錄片則會獲得2,500元。另外,最佳短片、最佳動畫和最佳學生影片可分別獲得1,500元、1,000元和500元獎金。

Sher Vancouver創辦人Alex (Amar) Sangha是Sundar Festival的經理。身為註冊臨床社會工作者和註冊臨床輔導員的他,是溫哥華LGBTQ+ 社區的知名成員

Alex在一份聲明中表示:「Sher Vancouver希望將全球最佳、最動人和最有影響力的電影帶到素里市中心,給予觀眾視覺娛樂之餘更可以讓他們從中學習,從而為社區帶來改變。」

電影製作人兼視覺藝術家Vinay Giridhar是Sundar Festival的總監。由他執導的紀錄片《Emergence: Out of the Shadows》曾在接近50個電影節上映。

電影以Alex、Kayden Bhangu和Jag Nagra三位坦然接受自己LGBTQ+身份的大溫地區居民為題材,而Alex更加是該電影的監製。

Pancouver曾在11月對電影作出評價,認為這是一部真誠和不加掩飾的作品。三位主角都能夠清晰地表達自己的遭遇,而Jag的父母和Alex的母親在片中發表的感人言論,更令到他們的故事更加深刻。」
