Southeast Asian Cultural Heritage Society計劃舉辦八道菜的籌款晚宴來迎接農曆新年

東亞及東南亞大部份地區將於1月22日慶祝兔年的來臨。在這年出生的人,以圓滑的交際手腕見稱。

然而,越南在芸芸東南亞國家中比較特別,因為當地將會踏入貓年。

thechinesezodiac.org稱,在貓年出生的人因擁有完美的公眾形象而受到敬仰,同時渴望被愛和廣結人緣。

此外,他們也因為擁有逆境自強和大難不死的本領而聞名。

1月27日,Southeast Asian Cultural Heritage Society 將於溫哥華East Hastings街1132號的Pink Pearl Restaurant舉辦籌款晚宴,以迎接兔年和貓年。

Southeast Asian Cultural Heritage Society高級經理Anna Nguyen說,這個跨文化活動是首次舉行,屆時將會展現東南亞藝術和文化琳琅滿目的一面。

Anna向Pancouver表示,活動包含八道菜的晚宴、唱片騎師舞蹈、本地著名東南亞表演者,以及妙趣橫生的農曆新年遊戲。此外,多份特別獎項將活動期間派發。

所有籌得款項將用於營運開支、活動經費、為新晉東南亞表演者興建場地,以及東南亞文化保育。

農曆新年是元旦節的開端

到底十二生肖為何不見貓的踪影?根據傳說,貓是被宿敵老鼠欺騙,因而錯過了玉皇大帝所設的盛宴。

有些人也相信貓是被老鼠推進河中而淹死的。

在越南,為期六天的元旦節以農曆新年揭開序幕。越南人會在這段時間與家人團聚,或到祖先墓地拜祭。另外,元旦節的第三天在當地是教師節。

馬來西亞和新加坡也會慶祝農曆新年,並將1月22日和23日定為全國假期。至於印尼則把這個全國假期稱為Imlek。

另一方面,柬埔寨、老撾和菲律賓沒有將農曆新年定為公眾假期。而在泰國,只有那拉提瓦、北大年、也拉和沙敦府會慶祝這個節日。
