Southeast Asian Cultural Heritage Society计划举办八道菜的筹款晚宴来迎接农历新年

东亚及东南亚大部份地区将于1月22日庆祝兔年的来临。在这年出生的人,以圆滑的交际手腕见称。

然而,越南在芸芸东南亚国家中比较特别,因为当地将会踏入猫年。

thechinesezodiac.org称,在猫年出生的人因拥有完美的公众形象而受到敬仰,同时渴望被爱和广结人缘。

此外,他们也因为拥有逆境自强和大难不死的本领而闻名。

1月27日,Southeast Asian Cultural Heritage Society 将于温哥华East Hastings街1132号的Pink Pearl Restaurant举办筹款晚宴,以迎接兔年和猫年。

Southeast Asian Cultural Heritage Society高级经理Anna Nguyen说,这个跨文化活动是首次举行,届时将会展现东南亚艺术和文化琳琅满目的一面。

Anna向Pancouver表示,活动包含八道菜的晚宴、唱片骑师舞蹈、本地著名东南亚表演者,以及妙趣横生的农历新年游戏。此外,多份特别奖项将活动期间派发。

所有筹得款项将用于运营开支、活动经费、为新晋东南亚表演者兴建场地,以及东南亚文化保育。

农历新年是元旦节的开端

到底十二生肖为何不见猫的踪影?根据传说,猫是被宿敌老鼠欺骗,因而错过了玉皇大帝所设的盛宴。

有些人也相信猫是被老鼠推进河中而淹死的。

在越南,为期六天的元旦节以农历新年揭开序幕。越南人会在这段时间与家人团聚,或到祖先墓地拜祭。另外,元旦节的第三天在当地是教师节。

马来西亚和新加坡也会庆祝农历新年,并将1月22日和23日定为全国假期。至于印尼则把这个全国假期称为Imlek。

另一方面,柬埔寨、老挝和菲律宾没有将农历新年定为公众假期。而在泰国,只有那拉提瓦、北大年、也拉和沙敦府会庆祝这个节日。
